How does Chapter 13 work?
Chapter 13 is a court-approved payment plan. Instead of wiping everything out at once, you make one payment a month for 3 to 5 years. That plan lets you catch up on your most important debts and protect your property.
Chapter 13 can help you:
- Stop a foreclosure and save your home
- Catch up on missed mortgage payments
- Keep your car and get current
- Stop a wage garnishment
- Combine your payments into one you can actually manage each month
When the plan ends, many of the debts that remain are wiped out. It's an orderly way to get back in control without losing your home or your car.

How long is the payment plan?
Between 3 and 5 years, based on your income. You make one payment a month and we handle dividing it up.
